SHERLOCKIANA IN THE SOUTHEAST

Quite a Three-Meeting Problem

On June 9, 10 and 11, 2000 The Pleasant Places of Florida scion was celebrating the 25th anniversary of its first meeting with a gala symposium in St. Pete Beach, FL. We wanted to go. On Monday, June 12, 2000 the great folks at the Survivors of the Gloria Scott in Greenville, SC were to have their regular meeting. We wanted to go there, too (having been generously invited). It is a long distance between St. Pete Beach and Greenville with only a day between the two meetings! So, why not just fly to Tampa and then fly back up to Greenville? Well, the situation was confounded by the fact that we had other activities planned in Eastern South Carolina after the Survivors' meeting and we would need our automobile. So what's to do? As a national politician was recently quoted as saying, "We should have such a problem!" Trying to attend two Sherlockian events held only one day apart in different sections of the country is the sort of problem Sherlockians would love to try to solve! (So if there was a Florida meeting and a SC meeting. Why a "Three-Meeting Problem?" Just be patient. You'll see.)
