Tryon Sherlock Holmes/William Gillette Festival Commemorative Lapel Pin
	In the August2005 issue of our Sherlockian E-Times we reminded our readers of the 2005 Tryon, NC Sherlock Holmes Festival which went into the Sherlockian record books last November. In honor of that festival (which was held as a tribute to William Gillette who called Tryon his home for much of his life), the good people of Tryon minted some great lapel pins bearing the graphic shown here and the legend "Sherlock Holmes Festival; Tryon, NC; 2005." We received an email from Nadine Naujoks in Tryon indicating that the Festival had a few of these pins remaining and would allow us to offer them to collectors throughout the Sherlockian Community. The stylized full-color drawing of Holmes in a gas-lit Baker Street has become something of a logo for the Tryon Festival and is a really attractive work of art. The pin measures a little over 1in by 1.5 ins and has a guarded pin finding for attaching to lapel, shirt, dress or sweater.

Some folks say that this is the most attractive generic Sherlock Holmes Lapel ever minted!
	We had this pin minted ourselves following a design we have had in mind for some years. It is true cloisonné 1 inch in diamater, with a polished Holmesian silhouette and the eternal announcement "Sherlock Holmes Lives!" in gold on a glossy black background and the whole thing is encircled with a fine, gold ring. The finding on the back has an extra stud to keep the pin from turning once affixed to lapel, dress, or sweater - and even though this is a pretty good photo, the pin even looks better! And the touches of white for Mr. Holmes's collar and shirt front really set this pin apart. A real "where-did-you-ever-get-that" show stopper!

Sound of the Baskervilles 25th Anniversary Commemorative Lapel Pin
	This is a beauty! That illustrious scion , The Sound of the Baskervilles, was brought into existence by its stalwart Seattle founders 25 years ago (Golly! Can it be that long already?)! In commemoration of this silver anniversary, the Sounds ( I cannot bring myself to use the appellation by which the group somethimes addresses itslef, viz., "SOB") have caused to be minted this most attractive lapel pin. The group has generously made a few of their pins available to us for offering to Sherlockian pin collectors everywhere. The circular pin measures about one inch in diameter with a medium blue background, a white insert and a most electrifying silhouette of the "Devil Hound" on a square, white insert. The Hound silhouette and the lettering around the perimeter of the pin have been rendered, appropriately enough, in a striking silver color. (This aspect of the pin is not well shown in the photo here due to the difficulty in photographing shiny surfaces properly.) This is a must for lapel pin collectors; it is one of those that won't be around again because there can only be one 25th anniversary!

"SHERLOCKIANS BY INVITATION ONLY SOCIETY" LAPEL PIN
	Now here is one that you don't see every day - in fact, very few people have ever seen it! The prestigious "Sherlockians By Invitation Only Society" has decided to mint its official lapel pin. The Director of the Society, eminent Sherlockian Donald Izban, contacted us to say that he had some extras of this extraordinary pin and asked us if we might want to offer them to collectors. We jumped at the chance! The pin is minted in a dignified gray pewter with the initials of the Society forged in relief. Its unusual oval shape, measuring approximately one and one quarter inch on the major axis, combined with the understated sophistication of pewter and the fanciful initials of the Society create a marvelous blend of elegance and whimsy. A "must" addition to any Sherlockian lapel pin collector. We might mention that this pin has a threaded finding with a serrated nut so that the pin won't twist on the garment upon which it is worn when the nut is screwed down tightly. The "screw-back" is designed such that the pin is most suitably worn in a lapel button-hole or on a woven garment such as a sweater.

SHERLOCKIAN "HAPPY YELLOW FACE" PIN by Ashley Decker and Stu Shiffman
	OK. Another Happening! A young Sherlockian (very young — she was 12 when she first contacted us) named Ashley Lynn Decker is a frequent correspondent with other Sherlockians and she always adds a little "happy face wearing a deerstalker" Sherlockian doodle next to her signature. When we first saw her doodle, we were most taken with it and we wrote to Ms. Decker to ask her if it would be OK for us to try to make a lapel pin out of her art. She said, "OK," with considerable enthusiasm! In turn, then, we sent the original doodle out to noted Sherlockian artist, Stu Shiffman, on the West Coast and asked him if he would render the art in a form which a manufacturer could use. Stu most graciously agreed to participate in this enterprise, and, hence, we have been able to come forth with the "Ashley Decker/Stu Shiffman Sherlockian Happy Face Pin" (we call it the "Happy Pin" for short). The sunshine yellow happy face wears a deerstalker in a black and white "plaid" pattern and the whole graphic is presented on a white oval with a fine black border; the pin measures about 1-1/8 inch in height. This is a real enameled cloisonné pin of a quality equal to any Sherlockian badges in existence anywhere today.
